LinkedIn For Black People—Can Professional Networks Solve Tech’s Diversity Problem?

At the largest tech companies, communities of color are notably absent. Professional networks akin to LinkedIn are setting out to solve tech’s long-standing diversity problem, starting with its most underrepresented group.  

Although 13% of the U.S. population is black, according to the U.S. Census, tech companies have disproportionately low numbers of black employees—although blacks hold, proportionally, only a slightly lower number of degrees in computer science and engineering as other groups in the U.S.
